Father’s Day Doll. I don’t want to draw a doll of my real dad because he’s a gaunt crazy man lurking in the sagebrush with guns and jerky.

Instead let us go see my imaginary dad.

A simple man, wearer of plaid shirts, fond of roast beef and port, kind to children and animals.

He is a dad who couldn’t possibly quote the entire book of Revelations from memory, a dad who has a job.

(My real dad has a job too, but ‘preparing to mow down the unrighteous’ doesn’t count.) (June 2001) For non-profit use only.

Happy Easter! A pretty bunny! (April  2001) For non-profit use only.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here is an Irish maiden. (March  2001) For non-profit use only.

I’ve made another doll of My nephew Pace. He has a big old noggin, so he can store his immense quantities of drool. (May 14, 2001)  For non-profit use only.

Happy Valentine's Day! Here is a dainty little girl with dresses and hats and valentines. (January 9, 2001) For non-profit use only.

Christmas Doll
I got a plastic girl doll for Christmas when I was 6. I loved that doll. She's gone now--where can she be, with her lustrous curls that got so frizzy? Does she still have her patent-leather purse? Her lumpy blue home-made polyester dress I so earnestly labored over?
Ah, I can still smell her interesting plastic fragrance.

Here is a Halloween Story! Here is the paper doll mummy that goes with the story! (October 2000)

Louise Belnap: Girl Detective! I always wanted to be a girl detective. Yes, I would see crimes that demanded action, but would then be distracted by a moth or a glass of grape soda and the criminals would easily escape.  A real shame. Luckily, Louise is more focused. Here she is with a magnifying glass and her naugahyde detective equipment case. (Oct. 6, 2000) For non-profit use only.

Oh, it's Chad: Director of Human Resources.  My, he's commanding--let's regard him respectfully, shall we? Here's a story involving Chad and an armadillo in the office. His clothing and the armadillo hide and house are made from recycled envelopes. (August 9, 2000) For non-profit use only.

Well, it's Tammi: Office Manager. My, isn't she efficient? Yes, she sure is. Her skirts are made from recycled insides of envelopes.
(June 25, 2000) For non-profit use only.

My, how wholesome! Yes, it's a Farm Boy. I made him from re-used Gurney's garden catalogs. He comes with a Farm Boy story.
(May 11, 2000) For non-profit use only.

Oh, what a cute little round head, what pretty blue eyes! What big feet!  Yes, it's the miracle of charm, James Pace himself.
(born Dec. 5, 1999) (Feb. 22, 2000) For non-profit use only.

And who is this saucy vixen? Why! It's my sister Rachel Broadbent!    Notice the cool blue bikini she like to wear when we go to Lake Powell, and the bagel. (May 14, 1999) For non-profit use only.
