The Night Trees Gayle Broadbent-Ferris 2003 www.skyglass.com |

Only some trees become night trees. Perhaps it’s a matter of will? Because they start out the same, but then they change. When the time comes the day tree part shrinks very small, into a special inch at the base of the tree and the shadow enlarges, expands, and reaches up with tall fingers, exploring stars. The night trees look much different from the day trees—stay away from them, they’re dangerous. They move, and when they move, it causes the wind to blow. As I said, just stay away from them. They don’t like day people. Of course, if you’ve turned into a night person at the time you’ll be fine.
What, you didn’t know you could turn into a night person? Well, you can.
